Rideshare drivers set a single-day record at McCarran Airport

An additional 170 domestic flights and 58 international flights were added in routes to and from Las Vegas to handle the massive influx of travelers headed to the international consumer electronics show. More than 165,000 people are expected to attend.

Uber and Lyft drivers logged 11,465 pick-ups at McCarran International on Monday, setting a single-day record that was largely driven by conventioneers headed to CES.

Taxicabs reported 18,413 pick-ups at McCarran on Monday, not quite breaking the standing record of 19,948 rides logged during the previous CES convention on Jan. 4, 2017.

Even though ride sharing companies like Lyft and Uber have fundamentally changed the travel industry, they still only account for 0.5 percent of miles traveled by car.

Busiest times at the airport:

■ CES convention

■ Super Bowl weekend

■ Major headline boxing matches

■ October, due to good weather
